Catalogues - User access

What is a catalogue?

A catalogue is a feature of the Learning Hub that enables organisations to have their own area on the Learning Hub; offering a home page with branding capability and a place for resources to be made available under an organisation’s own identity. An organisation will nominate users to manage their catalogue, known as catalogue admins and editors.

There are 2 different types of catalogues on Learning Hub - standard access and restricted access.

Which catalogue type should I use?

Standard access catalogues are used by the majority of organisations, with resources available to all Learning Hub users to access based on the access level selected when the resource was contributed.

e.g. You have learning resources that you would like to share with others, including those outside of your organisation.

Restricted access catalogues allow an organisation to limit the resources in it to specific group of users. Users can request access to the catalogue and the catalogue admins can accept/decline the access (manage access) via manage this catalogue. The can also invite users which will send an email with a direct link to the catalogue (access approval will still need to be granted).

e.g. I have learning which is specific to users within my trust and I do not want other users to be able to access them.

What if I have different types of resources within my catalogue?

Resources within catalogues can be published for either full access or general access users.

Resources for general access users are able to be viewed and access by all users of the Learning Hub (i.e. full and general access users).

Resources for full access users can be viewed by all users of the Learning Hub (i.e. full and general access users) but only accessed by full access users.

Users with general access can self-upgrade in the to a full access account if they meet the requirements for full access. This done via the My account section of the user account.
