This article explains how to make sure your elearning course is complete before closing it, and what to look out for if it still says in progress when you think it should be complete. This covers the most common types of elearning course on the Learning Hub.

Most elearning courses require all the learning interactions to be completed and the assessment (if present) to be passed. You must also visit and complete any summary and resources chapters.

Please note: Messages such as 'You have now reached the end of this session' don't mean you have completed all the interactions in the chapters.

Go to the home page of the elearning course and look for: 

• progress bars under chapter headings
• ticked chapter boxes
• '100% complete' and ticked headings on the side menu

Once an elearning course has been completed and closed it will reset when you open it again. You completion will be in your learning history.

The type of elearning course below requires a completed and passed assessment.

If there isn't an assessment look for the 'Complete session' button on the final page.

Some elearning courses have progress bars at the top of the chapter windows as well.

• Make sure it is all the way across before leaving the chapter.
• Click the progress bar to open a list of interactions in the elearning course. This will tell you if they are complete.
• To find incomplete interactions (with a white bar), select their title in the list.

Look out for down or side arrows, map pins and circular flip symbols on pictures and lists. You need to select all these. You will see the progress bar move from left to right as you do this.

Other types of elearning

The Learning Hub hosts elearning from external providers and they may use different types of elearning course not shown above. Check the start of the elearning course carefully for instructions on how to use each type.

Important: 'Error communicating with the LMS server' message

This message warns you your browser has lost communication with the server. No progress will be saved when this message appears. Close the elearning course and reopen it to regain connection, the elearning course will go back to where the connection was lost. Please don't ignore this message even though it will allow you to continue.
