What is a catalogue

Modified on: Fri, 11 Sep, 2026 at 1:11 PM

A catalogue enables organisations to have their own area on the Learning Hub; offering a home page with your branding and a place for your resources to be available. You can restrict it to your own staff or make it available to all Learning Hub users. Your nominated admins and editors will manage the catalogue.

Who can have a catalogue?

User organisations eligible for Full access on the Learning Hub may request their own catalogue.

Full access is available to all NHS organisations, social care providers, universities and dental staff. Please contact us if you are a professional body or specific healthcare/medical charity and want to host learning on the NHS Learning Hub.

You can request a catalogue by emailing support. We will send a spreadsheet for you to complete and return so that we have the necessary information and images to set it up ready for you to add your resources.

How catalogues appear

Searching shows a list of matching courses and catalogues, catalogues appear in a box with a blue catalogue tag.

Standard or restricted?

Standard access catalogues are used by the majority of organisations. Resources are available to all Learning Hub users, but full access and general access still applies (please see below).

Use this if you have learning resources that you would like to share with others, including those outside your organisation.

Restricted access catalogues allow an organisation to limit the resources in it to specific group of users. Your catalogue admins will be required to accept or deny access requests from users. They can also invite users which will send an email with a direct link to the catalogue (access approval will still need to be granted). Admins can also remove access for users.

Use this if you have learning which is specific to users within your trust and not to other people.

General and Full access resources

Resources within catalogues can be published for either full access or general access.

  • Resources for general access can to be viewed and accessed by all users.
  • Resources for full access can be viewed by all users but only accessed by full access users.

Users with general access can self-upgrade in the to a full access account if they meet the requirements for full access. This is done via the <My account> section of the user account.
